Making a submission

15/12/2011

7 golden rules

1. Remember to specify the conditions for publication in your research contracts.

2. Come to an agreement with your co-authors.

3. Keep an original of your initial submission (pre-print) and the final version (after review) that you submitted to the publisher (post-print).

4. Read the publishers’ rights assignment agreements before signing them and keep them once you have signed them.

5. Be sure not to divulge confidential information concerning the publication.

6. Do not hesitate to ask for help from archive-ouverte@inria.fr if you do not understand certain clauses or they seem unfair.

7. If you can, choose a publisher with a permissive policy on open archives. Check the rights accorded to you by the main publishers on the Sherpa/Romeo site, which details the policies of the main publishers on self-archiving.
